The Lawn Guru is a family-run lawn care and services provider catering to Taupo, Turangi, and surrounding areas.

Our services include general landscaping and planting, new lawn design, lawn repair, maintenance, fertilisation, and irrigation system installation.

From the initial consultation to execution, we work closely with our clients to make sure that we can work to transform their vision into reality.

Meet the Guru

Chris Downes is qualified agronomist with 28 years of experience in the turf grass industry, working on golf courses and sports turf facilities.

This includes 14 years as Superintendent at the world-renowned Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Kinloch Club.

Chris has always been passionate about what he does and strives to provide top-quality services in the region.

The Beginnings…

Chris grew up in the Hutt Valley and he spent countless hours collecting golf balls from the course that backed onto his neighborhood. It was there, walking on the velvety grass beneath his feet, that his passion for lawns began to flourish. The meticulously manicured green turf captivated his attention and sparked his love for the craft. The rest, as they say, is history.
