Rescuing your Lawn & Garden

 Full Lawn Servicing & fixing

If your lawn looks tired and need to be revived, Lawn Guru team can suggest and implement a renovation program that can revitalize your lawn.

We structure our renovations around your budget and your desired outcome.

Aerating the soil by coring it will relieve compaction and will improve water infiltration which allows grass roots to get the oxygen and space to grow.

Scarifying the lawn means removing thatch or the cumulation of dead grass roots and shoots. This improves the lawn immensely.

Thatch is one of the main causes of a lawn dying.

Excess thatch stops water from penetrating (Dry patch) and encourages favourable conditions for soil pests and diseases. Over-sowing your tired lawn incorporates new seed to the area to fill in any bare patches.

Why does thatch occur?

Grass are always growing and dying. The roots and shoots as they die build up on top of the soil surface. The surface then gets higher and higher.
Other reasons thatch occur could be over watering/over fertilising or not catching grass clippings.
Let Lawn Gurus explain and implement the best watering / fertilising and mowing practices for your green space.

Upgrading Irrigation Systems

After a while, your irrigation systems may need to be upgraded. This could be due to plants getting too big and blocking sprinklers or it may be that areas on your lawn are drying out as sprinklers don’t have the necessary coverage. We can suggest changes to improve your lawn and to improve better water usage. We can also fix any broken system.

Coring and Dethatching Lawn

Coring and Dethatching Lawn

This is a renovation practice the Lawn Guru does best. It’s our second step when renovating your lawn.
The process involves power raking out the dead roots and grass that makeup what we call Thatch.
Thatch is very damaging to all good lawns. Thatch basically chokes your lawn slowly to death.
It affects water getting into the soil. Stops grassroots getting into the soil. Causes lawns to dry out.
Increase the chance of fungal and insect damage. Without controlling, thatch lawns will eventually yellow and die.

Removing the thatch

Removing the thatch

Sometimes lawns need serious work to keep them at their best.
Increased thatch levels need to be dealt with. Here we strip the top layer then remove thatch and place the good turf back.

Chris was recommended to us when we needed advice on how to achieve the lawn we wanted. He was very knowledgeable and listened to our ideas as well as making suggestions on options we could consider. We decided to get instant lawn and he researched availability and options for us was able to source the best quality lawn. He also recommended a watering system that will care for all our garden needs. In short, he did exactly what he said he would, in the timeframe agreed. He went above and beyond to accommodate us. You won’t find a more genuine nice guy. We are stoked with the result.

Chris and Liza Cox-Hancy, Kinloch

Jude and I engaged Chris from Lawn Guru as we had heard from our neighbors of the good work he had done at their places. We had a new build underway and Chris helped us understand what layout and shaping would work well for our site, and developed a suggested landscape plan with base plantings. Chris organized everything for us, including working with our builder to coordinate when irrigation piping should be laid before concrete driveway installed. Chris secured large rocks and placed these around our section including shaping the land and spreading with topsoil, bark, river stones, then planting and laying turf. Chris is an amazingly hard worker who will work under challenging climate conditions with energy and a smile on his face. He has access to an array of landscaping equipment and can operate most of this himself. Overall Chris was great to deal with. He is very knowledgeable and willing to do any work from design to landscaping and planting, to produce an optimal outcome for his client. I look forward to continuing to avail myself of his services to ensure our lawns and gardens are kept in optimal condition.

Cheers Ray

We engaged Chris the Lawn Guru to design and carry out our landscaping at our new home on The Fairways Kinloch. The covenants on The Fairways require a well-designed landscaping plan, as Chris used to be the head green keeper on the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course here, it made sense to use him. We weren’t disappointed, Chris did a magnificent job. From interpreting our ideas, sourcing plants like hardy grasses, picking up our shrubs that were in store, then delivering and installing them. He built a spectacular rockery laying weed mat to minimize future weeding. True to his business name he prepared, laid and now maintains our magnificent lawn, that is the envy of our street. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Chris “The Lawn Guru” for all your gardening needs.
